Introducing Edge Tableware

Edge Tableware, Skagerak, design by Stilleben, Edge Teapot

Today we launch Edge Tableware which we have designed for Skagerak! Edge Tableware is made in highfired terracotta, with an amphora-inspired foot deriving from an ancient Greek-Egyptian design tradition for craftsmanship. Want to learn more? The Stilleben design duo answers a few questions below...

How to set a nice tea table?
“We think Edge Tableware in terracotta goes very well with different sorts of wood and soft colours like dusty rose, dusty blue and cream. So we will set a nice tea table by mixing Edge Tableware with our Stilleben Serving Boards in walnut, a dusty rose tablecloth and small bouquets of cornflowers. We believe the flowers and the dusty rose colour will serve as a beautiful contrast to the matt terracotta. By the way, make sure to stop by one of our Stilleben stores one of these days where you will be able to experience a lovely tea table...”

Is Edge Sugar Bowl only for sugar?
“Well, you can use it as you like. We will fill it with sugar cubes in quirky pastel colours, olives, nuts, chutney, jam - almost anything goes! It´s designed for small treasures, a precious jewel in the Edge Collection.”

Why terracotta?
“Edge Tableware is inspired by an ancient Greek-Egyptian tradition for craftsmanship, designed with a simple, Nordic expression. In continuation of the other Edge products, Edge Pot and Edge Vase, we wanted to add an outdoor feeling to it. Terracotta may be a raw material but also a sturdy one. It gave us a possibility of creating a tableware collection for both indoor and outdoor use and at the same time stay true to a Nordic expression. Edge Tableware is suitable for everyday use as the products are dishwasher safe except for the Edge Teapot and Edge Sugar Bowl which has teak and brass details. Terracotta is a lovely material to work with as it has a warm and natural glow that turns out more or less brownish red depending on the firing.”

Psst: Did you know that Edge Teapot will soon be part of the permanent collection at Design Museum Denmark?
