The Stilleben Duo

Ditte Reckweg and Jelena Schou Nordentoft are both educated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, specializing in glass and ceramics. This is where the two first met and soon became close friends as they shared a strong passion for good craftsmanship and peculiar objects.

They opened their first store in 2002, and have ever since been able to rethink and evolve the Stilleben concept. As store owners and designers they see it as their first job to constantly create new stories and aesthetic expressions that reflect the time we live in. Stilleben is a German art concept referring to a work of art depicting mostly inanimate objects. The name is closely related to the Stilleben signature – to carefully select products and mix them in a personal way.

Today Stilleben runs an online shop and a store located in the heart of Copenhagen offering a carefully curated mix of handmade ceramics and glassware, one of a kind-products, textiles, furniture and prints – all handpicked by the two founders. This selection is displayed among Stilleben’s own designs – including Stilleben Tableware, Stilleben Linen, Stilleben Print Collection and Stilleben Accessories.

In 2017 Stilleben cofounded Stilleben Architects with architect Ditlev Rahbek. Stilleben Architects build kitchens and furniture focusing on quality craftsmanship, long-lasting solutions and sophisticated color settings. All products are available for exploration in the Stilleben store.

The Stilleben duo also designs products for acknowledged Danish design companies such as Kähler, Skagerak and Lyngby Porcelæn. Read more about the collaborations here.
