Yoko, design by Stilleben for Motarasu, 2019 ⼁ Shiro, design by Stilleben for Motarasu, 2019
The Danish brand Motarasu was established in 2018 aiming to bring together Japanese and Danish designers in order to emphasize their common design style and the proud design traditions of both nations.
The Yoko collection is designed by Stilleben for Motarasu. Yoko is a sculptural and distinct tableware collection inspired by Stilleben's first journey to Japan in 2015. Simple, sculptural shapes challenge the material of the porcelain and underline the purity of the material. The teapot serves as the centerpiece of the collection and the mug and little pitcher adding a ceremonial feeling to the set.
The Shiro collection is a series of porcelain bowls in six different sizes designed to meet almost every need you may have for a container. Each bowl is marked with a little indigo blue dot indicating its size, and referring to small Japanese stamps often used to sign a product or a paper. Shiro is the Japanese word for white.
