Copenhagen Recommendations
For almost 25 years the streets and canals have provided rich inspiration. Countless locally made objects have sat on our tables and shelves, ultimately finding their way into homes across town.
Copenhagen in the summer is one of our favorite things. We love the way the city buzzes when it fills with tourists, while at the same time slowing down as the locals head off on holiday.
In our City Guide, we’ve gathered the places we love most, the spots we always return to, and we’d love to share them with you.
Kongens Have
Our new flagship store is just a stone’s throw from Kongens Have. This beautiful green park is a place we return to again and again, with plenty of room to pause on a blanket or simply sit in the grass.
We are especially fond of the large perennial flower beds, which change subtly from week to week and always offer a new experience of the season.
Herkules Pavillonen
While you are in Kongens Have, we highly recommend stopping by Herkules Pavillonen. It is one of our favourite places for a quiet break, serving everything from coffee and breakfast to lunch and cold drinks.
I LOVE BEAUTY
On the edge of Kongens Have, in one of the small pavilions inspired by Paris’ Pont Neuf, you will find I LOVE BEAUTY. Visiting the tiny pavilion is an experience in itself, and inside you will discover a carefully curated selection of clean beauty.
Cinemateket's rooftop
Filmtaget, the rooftop terrace atop the Danish Film Institute, is one of our newest discoveries since moving our flagship store to Christian IX’s Gade.
During summer, the rooftop transforms into an open-air cinema with views across Copenhagen’s historic rooftops. It is a special way to experience the city. There is also a playground for children and a café.
Thorvaldsens Museum
Thorvaldsens Museum is a constant source of inspiration for us. We visit again and again, and then again. We love the colours, the architecture and the countless details.
Gammel Strand & Lille Fugl
Across the canal from Thorvaldsens Museum, you will find Kunsthal Gammel Strand, an exhibition space that continues to surprise us with its thoughtful programme and curation. At the moment, there is an exhibition dedicated to the Danish ceramic artist Ursula Munch-Petersen, which we would not want to miss.
After exploring the exhibitions, we recommend stopping by Lille Fugl for a good cup of coffee in the café downstairs.
Ved Stranden 10
Enjoy a glass of wine by the water at Ved Stranden 10. A Copenhagen classic that we never tire of.
Admiralgade 26
Admiralgade 26 is run by Christian Nedergaard and Sebastian Nellemann, who are also behind Ved Stranden 10.
We highly recommend their Japanese-inspired Saturday lunch, Choushoku, prepared with great respect for ingredients and simple details.
The Library Garden
Hidden away behind Christiansborg Palace lies Bibliotekshaven, The Library Garden, one of the city's quiet gems and a place we are particularly fond of. It feels peaceful, green and surprisingly secluded.
Canal tour
Copenhagen is incredibly beautiful from the water, and a canal tour is a great way to experience the city. Go in the morning with a coffee and a pastry. We recently overheard that tip from one customer to another in the flagship store, and it is a good one.
Apotek 57 & FRAMA
At Apotek 57, located in the historic Nyboder neighbourhood with its iconic yellow houses, we can promise good coffee and something delicious to eat.
Connected to the café is FRAMA’s store, housed in the former St. Pauls Apotek, where much of the beautiful original interior dates back to 1878.
Bottega Barlie
Just across from Apotek 57 and FRAMA, you will find Bottega Barlie. Good food and a relaxed atmosphere make it a favourite throughout the day and into the evening.
mazo
Whenever we find ourselves on Dronningens Tværgade, we always stop by mazo. There is a sense of dedication and uncompromising attention to detail in everything they create.
Petra
At Petra, which is part hotel, part restaurant and part bar, we recently enjoyed one of our favourite meals in a long time. Stay for the night, stop by for a drink, or settle in for dinner.
studio x kitchen
studio x kitchen is almost always full, and we completely understand why. Come for a good cup of coffee, breakfast or lunch. We can only encourage you to try their folded eggs. You will not regret it.
Beau Marché
Whenever we long for Paris, we visit Beau Marché. A charming little French universe in the heart of Copenhagen, just around the corner from our new flagship store. Here you will find both a carefully curated shop and a restaurant tucked away in the courtyard.
Locale 21
When we dream of Italy, we head to Locale 21. There are many Italian restaurants in Copenhagen, but this is where we find some of the very best Italian food the city has to offer.
STILLEBEN
Our brand new flagship store own universe of design, ceramics and objects for everyday living, created with a love for craftsmanship, materials and the small details that make a house feel like home.
Kanalhuset
A hotel and restaurant run by the same people behind Absalon and Hornbækhus. At the heart of Kanalhuset are the communal dinners held every evening. Here, you can enjoy wonderful home-cooked food served on beautiful platters, shared around long tables with both locals and visitors.
The entire hotel is thoughtfully furnished with carefully restored vintage pieces and reclaimed finds. We can also warmly recommend staying overnight in one of their beautifully personal rooms or apartments. Guests can join morning yoga sessions and take a swim in the canal before breakfast.
Studio Arhøj
At Danish ceramic artist Anders Arhøj’s studio, you will find a colourful and playful universe full of personality. The store on Nørregade is a truly unique concept where both glass and ceramics are made on site. A must-see for anyone with an interest in ceramics, craftsmanship and creative making.
